Lotus Flower

What makes the lotus flower so special?

The lotus flower is one of the most ancient and deepest symbols of our planet.
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by the impurity, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. The lotus flower represents long life, health, honor and good luck.

Universal symbol for spiritual unfoldment
Egyptian Lotus flower
The Egyptian Lotus flower symbol was called Sesen in the Egyptian language. In the Egyptian mythology the lotus flower is a symbol of the sun, of creation and rebirth.

Eastern Lotus flower
In the East, the lotus flower is viewed as a symbol of spiritual unfoldment. The lotus has its roots in earthly mud, but as it grows upward in aspiration toward the light, its petals open out in a beautiful flower. Om Mani Padme Hum, meaning, "Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus" is the sacred mantra of the Tibetans.

Christian Lotus flower
The Christian alternative to the lotus is the white lily which, relating to Mary as queen of heaven, signifies both fertility and purity. Traditionally the Archangel Gabriel carries the lily of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary. "Blessed are the pure in heart," said Jesus, "for they shall see God." The teachings of the Galilean Master and those of India's great yogis were cut from the same cloth of self-realization.

Indian Yoga Lotus flower
The Indian Lotus flower symbolizes divinity, fertility, wealth, knowledge and enlightenment. It is associated with the goddess of wealth, Maha Lakshmi, who brings prosperity, purity and generosity. She sits on a fully blossomed lotus flower, symbolizing purity, beauty and
everything that is good.

"We were talking - about the space between us all and the people -
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion never glimpsing the truth
Then it's far too late when they pass away.

We were talking - about the love we all could share
When we find it - to try our best to hold it there - with our love
With our love we could save the world - if they only knew

Try to realize it's all within yourself - no-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you.

We were talking - about the love that's gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see - are you one of them?

When you've seen beyond yourself
Then you may find peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we are all one
And life flows on within you and without you."

May - Dragon Moon: More Photos!

The Evening...

The evening of the May moon was a delight. The room was a wash of red accessories, white candles, potion bottles and tatoos. The table was set with an Asian dragon theme. There were fortune cookies, spring rolls, mochi, curried chicken mini pita pockets and more culinary surprises. We told stories of our mothers and grandmothers. We wrote in our cards about what we have learned from our mohers, motherhood and mothering in our lives. We chose a tatoo to wear to remind us of the evening. We drank wine and laughed. We went in to the garden to collect flowers for our potion bottles which we named at the end of the evening.

My Intention...
My bottle was named "clairvoyant surrender" because this month I will be listening to the powerful bits of inspiration that come through my intuition as visions. My fortune cookies gave me my wisdom for this month...
  • Success and wealth are promised to me.
  • I have many admirers and I am a leader.
  • I am loved and I have great friendships.
  • Its my job to notice the beauty, Gods gift, God in all things and everywhere.
This month I will pray and ask God for what I need. I will stay open to my hunches, impulses, and any inspiraton that moves me. I will be in the moment, curious and ready to take inspired actions.

I look forward to the miracles and joyful adventures!

My intention is already in motion...
So far so good. I felt a strong pull from my grandmother and great aunt to really support the family getting together for a Ancestral Remembrance Ceremony in Philadelphia, PA . I kept listening to the visions, dreams and impulses that moved me. The result was one of the most moving and heart felt family gatherings ever. I hated to leave. I cried when it was time to get in the cab to go to the airport. We started a plan to meet in Atlantic City next year...rent a beach house and really enjoy each other...this time for week long celebration.

I feel so blessed. I have a wonderful family, full of cousins, aunties and grand parents. It is always a delight to learn more about my family and to connect. My soul and my spirit is a blaze with inspiration and creativity.

May- Dragon Moon Party

It was a delightful Dragon Moon Tea Party Last Night...I shared some sweets and savories with the lovely Martha, Betty and Julie...we donned silly Ed Hardy Dragon Tattoos, just for the night and raided the Rose Garden for bits to create our Mother Nature Moon Jars...Betty's was titled Simple Beauty, Martha's was Mother Dragon Elixir, Julie's was Clairvoyant Surrender and Mine was Angel Queen...each jar was the perfect reflection of the Creatrix that gave it birth...
We also sat down to focus on and discuss the way Mother Love feels...Unconditional...Cozy...Warm.....Proud and Unwavering. Then we created a mental and written picture of protection vs. fear... and our perfect shelter manifested.

I sent everyone off with their creations and their chopsticks, some dragon charms and flower kiss candies...

Until Next Moon...Namaste!
