Full Moon: February 2009

Full Moon was delightful. Betty and Jenna did a great job of creating an inviting space for our full moon celebrations. The celebration took place in a beautiful estate complete with great views, a theater room and big metal sculptures. It was so mesmerizing, I fell down the marble stairs twice! (I'm ok but my pride was hurt..LOL)

The evening started with a tour of the home, we got goddess crowns and then we had this wonderful meal called "stacks" which consisted of brown rice, chicken, shallots, celery, baby orange wedges, shaved almonds, those crispy curly chinese cracker things and gravy. It was sooooooo good. I totally felt satisfied. We also had popcorn and M&M's...I've never had that before...it was surprisingly good. I felt like we were eating comfort food like food I would have eaten as a child.

We then watched the movie "Prize Winner of Defiance of Ohio". It was this story of a woman who kept her family together in the '50's by getting almost everything the family needed by winning contests. It was a really powerful movie. It hit alot of cords for me in really surprising ways. I saw her compassion and strength similar to my mothers traits. I saw so much around acceptance and forgiveness.

We reflected on who taught us love after the movie. I was so touched by everyone's openness and honesty. What I got last night will stay with me for a long time. Here is what I got from the night.

  • I need you to have my back too
I need people to know I am with them even in the fire...but I also need you to be there for me too. If you run I feel abandoned and it hurts like heck. I know I may look strong and I may have put up walls in the past but under it all I still need hand holding from time to time. To even admit that is vulnerable.

  • Loving another is a moment to moment choice
Loving someone is a choice. The trick is to become masterful at falling in love with another over and over again. Mastering the ability to accept someone as they are and as they are not. Not falling in love with who you want someone to be but who they are now and now and now.

  • Perfect Families are on TV...created by a team writers .. Its not REAL life
Nobody is perfect. NOBODY. Not your parents. Not You. Not anyone. We are all in this together trying to figure it all out. I've got to cut some people in my life some slack.

  • I need stability and I am willing to provide it
Great things have become greater when my relationships are stable. Life will be life but my relationships can be stable. So much so that all I can do is shine. There is a way to create stability in my relationships. Its never too late to create stability in my relationships...even if I've never experienced that before.
